Beginning in November of 2006, Artificial Flight have quickly asserted themselves as one of most promising bands to emerge from the north east. After launching their first E.P. “Modest War Factor” in the summer of 2008, the band have received many favourable reviews since its release being described as “ intelligent and compelling music” by Stephen Errity of Hotpress. The band topped off 2008 by winning Entertainment.ie’s ‘Band of the Year’ beating opposition from the likes of ‘Fight Like Apes’ and ‘Messiah J & the Expert’. The band have also appeared on the IMRO showcase tour and are currently playing a busy schedule of gigs across the country. Each Live performance is treated with the utmost detail, with the band quickly gaining a reputation for staging interesting stage props and light shows, creating an intense and intimate spectacle! The band is currently preparing to record more songs in September which they hope to release before the end of the year.
The five piece cite many influences which can be seen in their song writing. The band have that knack of creating catchy pop epics similar to the likes of Elbow, with that rock element of Pearl Jam mixed in with progressive song structures and sound experimentation of Pink Floyd.
